Calvin’s Concerns – Is Faith a Gift?

In our previous post, I tried to give some of my interactions and history with the Calvinistic thought process and teachings.

With this post, I would like to introduce you to the teacher I referred to earlier. He is a former Calvinist also, and has recanted, and has become a bit of a lightning rod for provisionism soteriology teaching.

Many of his videos are quite lengthy, and have kept my interest now for weeks. What I would like to do is offer his “60 Second Soteriology” clips to introduce you to Mr Leighton Flowers.

I do hope you will consider the teaching with an open mind.

  1. John 3:34
34 For the One whom God sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the Spirit by measure.

As a man Jesus was given from the father the spirit without limit

    Ephesians 2:8-10
    for by grace you are saved, through faith, and this not of yourselves; it is the gift of God;

Grace and Faith are gifts from God

    John 6:29
Jesus answered and said to them, This is the work of God, that you believe into Him whom that One sent

Faith is the work of God not natural man

    John 3:3-8
Jesus answered and said to him, Truly, truly, I say to you, If one is not generated from above, he is not able to see the king- dom of God.

5 Jesus answered, Truly, truly, I say to you, If one is not generated out of water and Spirit, he is not able to enter into the kingdom of God.

8 The Spirit breathes where He desires, and you hear His voice; but you do not know from where He comes, and where He goes; so is everyone having been gen- erated from the Spirit.

The Sovereign spirit of God gives faith to whom He wills and natural man can’t see or enter the kingdom of God without that gift because

    1 Corinthians 2:14

But a natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he is not able to know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

The natural man doesn’t have faith until God gives the spirit

The Bible says all you needs is 2-3 witnesses (scriptures) to prove faith is a gift her is at least 9-10
